My guilty pleasure.

I have a new favourite show.

IcePilots NWT.

yeah, it's cheesy, and made exciting for television, but it's still real northern Canadian flying. And that's cool.

Also reminds me of my days in the northwest when I had to dig out the hose (with my hands and feet, shovels are apparently a luxury in Big Trout.) then pump my own fuel at 3am when it's -30C out with howling winds (and all after a circling to mins I am sure)but not in a bad way. haha.

Anyway, since I'm not sure if any of you outside the country are aware of this show, here's the first part of episode 1. the rest seem to be on youtube now, so if you like it, you should be able to see it all.

Enjoy. :D

That is excellent. Like Ice Road Truckers with warbirds. You don't get that in the UK!

Richard, glad you enjoyed. :D

Totally guilty, watching it, loving it!

I know a guy who went to work for them a couple years ago, ended up leaving and is now flying for one of their competitors up there.

I grew up in -40 and flying one of those machines would be unbelievable. With the show out now though, their resume stack must be incredible!

funny, the guy getting checked out on the DC4 in episode one is a former first officer of mine. Was cool to see him getting to fly that thing. :D

Sure would be something else to fly those...mind you I remember seeing a DC3 in YXU all the time, and looking at their clipboards and seeing the TAS entered as 140kts....and knowing mine was entered as 280kts block...well....would sure be a time builder anyway. :D

Great first episode - addictive. Unfortunately episodes 2 onwards are only available on their website and if you are outside Canada you can't download them. Big unhappy face here :-((((
Anyone know another source?

oh crap, that sucks!

Ok, went to pprune cause I remember seeing something about it there.

Someone suggested "Try googling 'Canadian Internet Proxy' I'm told that works.." So you can try to watch on the History website.

I would imagine that the other episodes will show up eventually in youtube...I think it took a bit for those first few to show up. I've got hubby on the case, so hopefully he'll be able to steer me to steer you in the right direction.

Sorry for the tease!! that wasn't fair at all. :)

I've got them all PVR'd. I keep expecting to see a female with green hair in the background of some shot.

It is cheezy, but not as bad a Maday. And it is real reality Reality TV.
